In addition to CROSS THE AGES' considerable appeal, the community cultivated by Elixir Games over the years and the comprehensive ecosystem it is building are also reasons why the IDO has garnered strong attention and support. So, what is the Elixir Games project, what is it working on, and why did CTA choose to collaborate with it?
Elixir Games: A Web3 Game Platform Backed by Solana & Square Enix

Recently, the multimedia gaming ecosystem CROSS THE AGES (CTA) has drawn widespread attention from the community with multiple announcements. Besides completing $3.5 million in equity financing, bringing the total financing to $15 million, and launching its native token CTA on multiple trading platforms such as Bybit, KuCoin, GATE, and MEXC upon release, CTA also conducted an exclusive IDO on the Web3 gaming platform Elixir Games, which quickly sold out after launch. In addition to the inherent attractiveness of CROSS THE AGES itself, the community that Elixir Games has nurtured over the years and the comprehensive ecosystem it is developing are also reasons for the strong attention and support the IDO received. So, what is the Elixir Games project, what is it working on, and why did CTA choose to collaborate with it?

Supported by Solana Foundation and Square Enix, raising US$14 million

Elixir Games, founded in 2020, now boasts over 150 games and a user base exceeding 1 million. In March of this year, Elixir announced the completion of its seed round financing, raising a total of $14 million. This round, initially disclosed in December 2022 with Square Enix and Sino Global Capital as lead investors, was extended for more than a year and subsequently received investments from other institutions, including the Solana Foundation and Shima Capital. Elixir Games has also established a strategic partnership with Japanese gaming giant Square Enix, aiming to significantly impact the awareness and adoption of Web3 games among traditional gamers.

During the seed funding period, Elixir also announced a collaboration with GameStop, one of the world’s largest video game retailers, to support its Web3 game distribution platform, GameStop Playr. Elixir Games will manage the infrastructure for GameStop Playr, overseeing a wide range of features, including a Web3 game launcher, game hosting, tournament management, game discovery pages, and social functionalities.

Create a one-stop Web3 game platform integrating financing, development and distribution

In 2021, when blockchain games represented by Axie Infinity began to receive widespread attention as a new model, Steam, the largest traditional game distribution platform, explicitly prohibited the use of cryptocurrencies or NFTs, closing the door to all chain games. Since then, to fill the gap in the Web3 game distribution platform, many projects have begun to rush to build a Web3 version of Steam, intending to take the lead in occupying this blue ocean on the eve of large-scale application.

Elixir was initially keen to compete with Steam. However, with the development of the blockchain game industry and its nearly four years of exploration in the market, Elixir has now positioned itself as a one-stop game platform that “changes the way blockchain games are financed, developed, and marketed”, instead of being a platform with many Web3 games. In addition to the traditional game platform game launcher section, the Elixir ecosystem also plans to launch Launchpad and incubation programs. The Elixir Launchpad ecosystem incubates new Web3 games in the form of IGOs (Initial Game Releases), aiming to provide a seamless experience for both players and developers. The IDO activity of Cross The Ages (CTA) recently launched by Elixir for the first time can be regarded as a successful attempt before the complete launch of the ecosystem.

On Elixir’s 2024 roadmap, launching the $ELIX token will be the start of securely simplifying the Web3 user experience through gaming platforms, marketplaces, and launchpads. Following the $ELIX token, the Elixir Launchpad will launch later this year.

Purchase LITT and Launch ELIX: Elixir’s special “dual-token” model

At the end of last year, Elixir Games acquired LitLab Games and the Web3 auto-chess game CyberTitans it developed. The game has been the most popular game on the Elixir Games platform over the last year, and its LITT token will be launched in May 2023. Thanks to the acquisition by Elixir Games, the utility of LITT tokens has expanded from a single game token to the Elixir Games ecosystem. In March this year, LITT tokens were integrated into Tinies, a fast-paced casual fighting game independently developed by Elixir, and No Way Back, a cartoony ninja battle royale game.

In addition, in the pre-IDO activity of Elixir Games’ upcoming native token ELIX, players who stake a certain number of LITT tokens will eventually receive a 1:1 subscription amount. The event is designed with a total of 5 subscription levels, namely plankton (5,000), shrimp (25,000), dolphin (50,000), shark (150,000) and whale (600,000). As of May 16, the LITT token price was approximately $0.01, with a decline of approximately 35% in the past week.

As for the native token ELIX, its use cases will be more abundant, including ensuring that holders participate in high-quality games listed on Launchpad, providing incubation for selected companies; providing mining plans with different APY benefits according to the user’s level; and obtaining Elixir platform games Exclusive airdrop access; voting rights on the incubation or release of new games; access to exclusive features and events in the social metaverse space; access to premium features on the Elixir gaming platform; access to Elixir’s season pass, and more.

In addition, to promote the development of the ecosystem of the Elixir gaming platform, more incentives and opportunities are provided to participants. ELIX token also introduces a continuous burning mechanism to establish a deflationary economic system. Specifically, 0.5% of each platform transaction will be directly used to burn $ELIX tokens, while other operations, such as canceling deposits in dApps in advance, participating in new game releases, etc., will also cause the burning of $ELIX tokens. This burning mechanism helps stabilize the supply of tokens, thereby increasing their value.

However, there isn’t enough information disclosed about ELIX, and its token economic system and issuance time are not yet known.

What games are available on Elixir?

Last month, Elixir Games launched the Season Pass event. During the event from April 19 to June 3, players will accumulate trophies within the platform and by participating in games and completing daily tasks. In the end, the top 200,000 players will receive a total of US$550,000 in bonuses. Games currently participating in the event include CyberTitans, Chronos Worlds, Elemental Raiders, Mokens League, Safrootics, Castle of Blackwater, Katana Inu, Last Resort, Obots, One Tap, No Way Back, Tinies, Unioverse, Tatitiko, etc.

However, the games that can participate in the event are only a small part of the Elixir platform. The platform currently has about 150 games, and its product portfolio covers multiple blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB, and Sui. We are also actively cooperating with other game platforms, such as the introduction of flagship games Town Star and Spider Tanks on Gala Games, and other popular games such as BigTime, BR1: Infinite, Kiraverse, etc. are also available on the platform. From the perspective of player activity, the most popular games in the Elixir ecosystem are mostly in the Season Pass activity list. Based on activity and game quality, PANews selected 5 of them and briefly introduced them below.

CyberTitans

An auto-chess strategy game where, in a match of 8 online players, each player assembles their team of Titans and chooses their own strategy to be the last one standing on the battlefield. The arena/battlefield consists of 64 squares, arranged in 8 rows and 8 columns. CyberTitans features two main game modes: Quick Game and Tournament. In Quick Game mode, a match among 8 online players is completed within 20 minutes, with rewards given to the top three players; in Tournament mode, 8 players compete against each other, advancing through rounds until reaching the finals to determine the ultimate winner. Notably, the game will release a Web2 version on both the Play Store and iOS, is listed on Steam (to be launched soon), and is already available on Epic.

Elemental Raiders

A free turn-based hero battle game that combines features of collectible card games and RPGs. In the game, players need to assemble a team of heroes and create the best skill deck to win battles and trade all in-game assets with other players to earn rewards. The game offers both PvE and PvP modes. In the PvE scenario, players must form hero teams to fight against powerful monsters; the PvP arena allows players to compete against each other, maximizing the test of strategic skills. The game’s token, GFAL, has been launched and can be used to purchase in-game items such as element crystals and chests on the marketplace. As of May 16, the GFAL price is approximately $0.017, with a weekly decline of about 26%. Notably, the Web2 version of the game has been released on Steam, with a positive rating of 74%.

Castle of Blackwater

A social deduction game with mechanics similar to the classic Werewolf. Players communicate and perceive each other to discover hidden roles. By analyzing the behavior of different players, they can gradually find more evidence to deduce and verify the true identities of other players, ultimately completing their faction’s tasks through teamwork to win. The game is divided into three factions: Protectors, Satan, and Forgotten. The victory conditions are respectively selecting the Satan player, eliminating the Protectors players, and completing individual tasks. Although it is a free game, the competitive version of Castle of Blackwater is only open to holders of NFT characters, while the casual version is open to all players. The full version of the game for PC is planned to be released by the end of this year and is already listed on Steam, expected to be launched simultaneously. Additionally, the mobile app version is planned to be released early next year.

Mokens League

A fast-paced 1vs1 football game where players control a team of 5 NFTs, each with unique stats and abilities. These NFTs can be integrated into teams, traded, and sold on the Mokens League marketplace. Each NFT is randomly generated and can be upgraded, enhancing its in-game utility and market value. For PC users, Elixir is the main way to launch the game; for mobile users, the game can be downloaded on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store.

TINIES

The fast-paced fighting game released by Elixir in the third quarter of last year uses a play & earn game mechanism, and players do not need to own digital assets to participate. Its game mechanism is simple and easy to use, which is reminiscent of the classic game “Tank Battle” developed by Japan’s Namco Game Company in 1985 and released on the Nintendo FC platform. However, the gameplay is richer, allowing players to practice PvE skills, upgrade monsters, etc. in the elite league of the PvP arena.
