On November 21, judges of the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's military leader Mohammed Dave on war crimes charges on Thursday, a move that was criticized by Israel. The Court's announcement comes after the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) submitted an application in May to issue an arrest warrant for allegations related to the October 7 attack on Israel by the Hamas militant group and Israel's military response in the Gaza Strip. The Court also issued an arrest warrant for former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. The Israeli government has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying that its war operations against Hamas, which the United States has designated as a terrorist organization, are in accordance with international law. In a statement, the ICC said the arrest warrants were issued "for crimes against humanity and war crimes."
