## Introduction 
Competition continues to increase in the blockchain sector giving some crypto projects enough room to choose the network they want to work with. <a href="/uk/price/ethereum-eth" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Ethereum</a> is one of the blockchains that is facing much competition from established and emerging blockchains. During the last decade several networks, dubbed Ethereum killers, came on to the market. ## Mech Shooter Game MetalCore Migrates from Ethereum's Immutable zkEVM to Solana 
Recently, Studio 369, the developers of [MetalCore](https://www.gate.io/learn/articles/what-is-metalcore-all-you-need-to-know-about-mcg/4036 "MetalCore"), the mech shooter game, announced that its gaming platform is shifting from Ethereum's Immutable zkEVM to Solana. This development will take place in November after launching  the game’s second season. Studio 369 intended to launch MetalCore on [Immutable zkEVM, an Ethereum layer-2 network](https://www.gate.io/how-to-buy/immutable-zkevm-bridged-eth-eth "Immutable zkEVM, an Ethereum layer-2 network"), in 2023. Nevertheless, the delay in the launch of  Immutable zkEVM’s mainnet derailed the plan.Studio 369 was affected in several ways due to the delay . For instance, it was forced to trim down its team. However, earlier this year the gaming company raised an additional $5 million to fund the MetalCore project.  Thus, after minting some NFTs and introducing the MCG token it launched MetalCore game  on Immutable zkEVM  in September

As hinted above, MetalCore’s season 1, titled "MetalPunks Rhapsody” was upgraded to introduce new features. Also, the game was simplified to become more accessible to many people around the globe. The Solana migration will enable MetalCore to integrate with Solana Labs’ GameShift platform. Thus, the Mech Shooter game will have a storefront and payment systems that enable the players to buy in-game assets such as mechs, weapons and land NFTs. This is because the game allows the winners to obtain assets from their opponents.  Another thing to appreciate is that the crypto game combines  the player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) models, making it one of the most fascinating NFT games.  In summary, MetalCore focuses on alliances, resource management and tactical battles.

## Key Reasons Behind Solana Migration 
There are several reasons for the Solana migration. Apart from Studio 369’s stated factors we will also look at other aspects that will benefit the Mech Shooter game. However, the main reason for the Solana migration is the blockchain’s performance in comparison with the Ethereum network. Since Solana has a high throughput the transactions on the gaming platform will be near instantaneous. This is different from traditional games that have transaction delays and latency that interrupt their flows. The Solana blockchain is in high demand since it has up to 3,000 transactions per second (TPS). Also, its continued growth attracts many crypto and gaming protocols.

Second, the Solana Labs’ GameShift platform brings an added advantage of a payment system that will be built into the game. With this, the players will be able to purchase in-game assets. This makes the crypto gaming transition very easy for web2 players. The interest of Web2 players in MetalCore is on record. For example, after its launch many people used a web2 store to buy in-game assets valued at over $100,000.

In addition to the above, Solana is well-known for its scalability, which the  Firedancer upgrade earmarked for 2025 will further enhance. Thus, there are many ways in which MetalCore will benefit from the Solana blockchain future developments. Generally, though, the crypto game will be able to handle many players and much transaction volumes. As a result, the game’s core team will focus on adding new features to the blockchain gaming protocol. Solana’s low transaction fees is another notable pull factor for MetalCore.

Despite the oncoming Solana migration it is important to recognize that MetalCore's Season 1 performance on Immutable zkEVM  was recommendable. It was not a failure as it raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Metalcore’s switch from the Ethereum blockchain network and Polygon is surprising since Solana is not [EVM compatible](https://www.gate.io/learn/articles/what-is-evm/68 "EVM compatible"). Thus, the gaming platform will not be able to support Ethereum assets. Worse still, Solana has been experiencing many network outages.

## MetalCore's Development Milestones
Studio 369 took various major steps to position MetaCore’s Mech shooter game and its entire ecosystem. For example, in September it launched its open beta on Epic Games Store. As said, the gaming platform launched “MetalPunk Rhapsody, its first season. The next step is the migration of NFTs and other digital assets from Immutable zkEVM to Solana.

Some of the digital assets to be transferred from the Ethereum blockchain to Solana include its collection of 10,000 genesis infantry characters minted in July. Currently, these NFTs have a floor price of around $90 each. At the moment, Studio 369 has not yet set a date for the migration of the digital assets. Also, it promised to give the users full details on how they can transfer their digital assets to the Solana blockchain.

## Conclusion 
Studio 369, the creator of MetalCore, plans to relocate the Mech Shooter game from Ethereum Immutable zkEVM to Solana blockchain. Solana has many advantages over Immutable zkEVM such as low transaction cost, high scalability and processing speed. However, Solana is an EVM incompatible blockchain which also experiences network outages. It is expected that the Mech Shooter Game will migrate to Solana in November. However, the team will share further details in the future.
