Arkham Intelligence shared shocking information. According to their data, Ethereum's legendary co-creator Vitalik Buterin has more than 800 million USD worth of ETH.

A large portion of this immense fortune comes from the first distribution of 246,730 ETH he received when Ethereum was launched. It is known that Vitalik has also invested in various projects such as StarkNet outside of Ethereum.

How did Vitalik create his fortune?

Vitalik Buterin took his first step into the crypto world in 2011 at the age of 17, when he co-founded Bitcoin Magazine with Mihai Alisie. Not satisfied with the limitations of Bitcoin, Vitalik published the Ethereum whitepaper in November 2013 at the age of 19 and proposed Ethereum as a solution to Bitcoin's shortcomings.

In a short period of time, Anthony Di Iorio, Charles Hoskinson, Mihai Alisie, Amir Chetrit, Joseph Lubin, Gavin Wood, and Jeffrey Wilcke formed a founding team.

These individuals established the non-profit Ethereum Foundation to develop the Ethereum network. In June 2014, Vitalik received a $100,000 grant from the Thiel Foundation and left the University of Waterloo to focus entirely on Ethereum.

Ethereum was officially launched on July 30, 2015. Vitalik is the sole founder actively working on the network and is managing the network's development, including the transition from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) in 2022.

Did the founder of ETH lie?

It is believed that besides Buterin's known wallets, there may also be undisclosed assets. However, in a past statement, Vitalik stated that he owns less than 0.9% of the total supply of ETH.

Arkham's data confirms that Vitalik's assets never exceeded 0.9% of ETH and reached the highest level in 2015 with 0.91%. Vitalik's initial allocation made him a billionaire briefly when ETH prices surpassed $3,000 in 2021.

In Vitalik's portfolio, in addition to ETH, there are other tokens such as KNC and WETH. His estimated net worth is quite significant compared to other Ethereum co-founders and early individual ETH holders.

In addition, Vitalik holds Tornado Cash (TORN) worth $1,290 and 6,345 million Shiba Inu (SHIB) worth $60.65.
