Over the last few weeks, the ShimmerEVM testnet has witnessed a strong surge in activity. Earlier this month on May 5, IOTA Heroes launched the Treasures of Shimmer testnet campaign which instantly became a massive hit spurting the network activity on the ShimmerEVM testnet.

But earlier this week on Wednesday, May 17, IOTAHeroes wrapped up its Treasuries of Shimmer testnet campaign, while sharing some of the performance stats for the same. The peak of daily transactions reached 1.83 million, involving over 200,000 wallet addresses and a total of 14 million transactions, all processed within sub-second block times. This valuable data will drive further enhancements for the upcoming ShimmerEVM release candidate.

Although the Treasures of Shimmer campaign comes to a close, the Play and Earn Zealy board shall remain open till May 22. Thus, users still have some time to scoop through the 500K $SMR token rewards. Treasures of Shimmer offered dApp developers an opportunity to test their integrations and services. At the same time, users were incentivized to take an early look and were rewarded for their time. It was a win-win-win scenario and provided a lot of fiendish fun.

Shimmer Network’s Explosive Growth

The launch of the Treasures of Shimmer campaign certainly provided a major boost to the entire Shimmer eco and will provide developers to actively work on the launch of the much-awaited ShimmerEVM mainnet.

The ShimmerEVM testnet was launched a month ago, marking a significant milestone in expanding the reach of the interoperable Shimmer protocol to a wide range of blockchain developers and users engaged in EVM-compatible smart contract development.

Dominik Schiener revealed that over 5,000 smart contracts have been deployed on the ShimmerEVM testnet to date. Additionally, the testnet has witnessed a significant surge, with the total number of active addresses surpassing 64,000. Furthermore, the ShimmerEVM has recorded an impressive tally of over 6 million transactions thus far.
