BlockBeats news, on October 17, according to CoinDesk, the latest report from Galaxy Digital shows that the global investment in cryptocurrency start-ups in the third quarter of 2024 was $2.4 billion, a 20% decrease from the previous quarter, and the number of investment transactions decreased by 17%. Alex Thorn, head of Galaxy Digital Research, said that high interest rates, the launch of Spot encryption ETFs, and the shadow of the industry collapse in 2022 are still affecting institutional investors' decisions. In the first three quarters of this year, the encryption industry received a total of $8 billion in investment, and it is expected that the scale of financing for the whole year will be basically the same as that in 2023, far lower than the level of over $30 billion per year in 2021 and 2022. Nevertheless, Thorn pointed out that the ETF-driven market pump is intensifying competition among venture capital institutions, which is conducive to entrepreneurs obtaining better valuation conditions. The report shows that 85% of funds flow to early-stage projects, with exchanges, lending, and trading platforms attracting the most investment, about $460 million. The United States is still the main source of investment, accounting for 56% of the total investment. Projects combining encryption with artificial intelligence received about $270 million in investment, a five-fold rise from the previous quarter.
