New York Fed Chairman John Williams stated that the Fed has made "significant progress" in achieving a better balance between inflation and employment goals, but is not in a hurry to cut interest rates in the "very short term." After an event in New York, Williams told the media that inflation is "still some way off" from reaching the Federal Reserve's target of 2%.

He emphasized that the current monetary policy is in a good state and the labor market remains strong.
