Andrew Kang: The combination of AI and encryption technology is expected to revolutionize research paper review, with costs only 1% of traditional manual audits.

Shenzhen TechFlow News, on December 31st, Andrew Kang, co-founder of Mechanism Capital, wrote that the combination of AI and encryption technology brings revolutionary opportunities for research paper review. The encryption project @yesnoerror is developing an AI model to review 90 million research papers. Currently, more than 1,700 papers have been reviewed, with an error rate of about 3-4%. AI can complete the literature processing work that would require 45,000 person-years in a few weeks, at a cost of only 1% of traditional manual audits (about 5.4 billion US dollars), approximately 30 million US dollars.

Kang pointed out that the project is developing a model to evaluate the quality of papers, generating standardized quality scores for each paper, considering factors such as methodology, logicality, and data integrity. This will help distinguish high-quality papers and may promote better scientific research by establishing rankings of universities and research institutions. In addition, the AI model is expected to revolutionize the peer review process and may eventually replace manual review. Kang stated that he has been supporting the project operation behind the scenes, and the position is not the focus.
