Hester Peirce, also known as the 'encryption mom,' hinted in an interview that with Gary Gensler stepping down as SEC chairman, encryption policies may see a turning point. She mentioned that two policies related to Cryptocurrency ETFs may be reassessed, including in-kind purchases and redemptions, and allowing Ethereum ETFs to stake. She expressed optimism towards a clearer regulatory framework. Since the nomination of Paul Atkins, a pro-Cryptocurrency former SEC commissioner, as the new chairman, the market has been increasingly hopeful that the US regulatory attitude towards Cryptocurrency will become more friendly and lenient. Hester Peirce, who is known as the 'encryption mom,' implied in an interview with Coinage that the SEC is planning a series of policy reforms favorable to Cryptocurrency. Peirce suggested that the approval of in-kind purchases/redemptions in BTC ETFs and the stake function in Ethereum ETFs would make these products more practical for investors, hinting that the approval of these reforms may be imminent. However, Hester Peirce warned that more radical reforms are expected to unfold gradually after Paul Atkins is confirmed as SEC chairman. She stated that these issues should be considered in phases or a trap framework could be established, such as tools like no-action letters or exemptive orders, providing clear guidance in the early stages, for example, 'You know, some things are not securities transactions.' She further pointed out that there will be many adjustments and changes in the coming weeks and months, but she believes that some early progress can be made. If by the end of 2025, people can achieve a state where the regulatory framework is perfected, they understand and comply with the rules, and more time is spent discussing the technology and its potential, it would make her very pleased. Due to the tug-of-war between regulatory agencies and the encryption industry over the past few years, as well as endless Wells notices, any approach that ends with enforcement actions threatening compliance may win the praise of encryption companies. Hester Peirce's remarks indicate that this shift has already begun.
