Billionaire Businessman: Don't Push Your Luck, How much Bitcoin Should You Buy? Explained! - Coin Bulletin
Interactive Brokers founder Thomas Peterffy suggests investors allocate a small portion of their portfolios to Bitcoin while emphasizing the need to avoid excessive risk.
Interactive Brokers Group Inc.'s billionaire founder Thomas Peterffy suggested that investors should have some Bitcoin in their portfolios, but advised to keep this investment limited.
In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Peterffy suggested that people allocate 2% to 3% of their net assets to Bitcoin. Peterffy stated that as a company, they do not allow customers to invest more than 10% of their assets in Bitcoin, emphasizing that it could be a "very dangerous" decision.
With a net worth of approximately $53 billion, Peterffy, who is listed on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, said that the price fluctuations of cryptocurrencies are "a bit scary".
Peterffy, who expressed that Bitcoin has no underlying value, added, "The only value it has is the same as paper dollars, which is nothing".
Interactive Brokers started offering its users the opportunity to buy and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash by launching cryptocurrency trading in 2021. They did this in collaboration with Paxos Trust Co., which provides crypto brokerage services.
"I think everyone who doesn't own Bitcoin should definitely get some Bitcoin, but not too much," Peterffy said, urging investors to be cautious.
Peterffy also expressed his belief that the upcoming Trump administration will reduce regulations by intervening less in the private sector, which is promising for economic growth.
However, Peterffy pointed out that the current excesses in the markets could lead to a dangerous situation, stating that "We will experience a decline in the markets in the future, but I do not think it will be very severe".
