An independent Miner has mined 3.3 BTC, the fourth winning since July with the 'Lottery Miner'.

According to mempool data, an independent Miner mined BTC Block 867118 through the independent Mining Pool Solo CKPool at 17:18 on the 24th, and received 3.329 BTC (Block reward + handling fee), worth about $222,000.

It is worth noting that this is the fourth time since July that an independent Miner has mined Block rewards (the first time, the second time, the third time), reaping rich rewards from the BTC network.

The first incident occurred on July 24th this year, when the Mining Rig manufacturer Altair Technology claimed that an independent Miner used its Bitaxe series model and mined approximately $210,000 worth of BTC through Solo CKPool, with a high return on investment compared to the model's price of only about $135 to $265.

According to the official website, Solo CKPool adopts the 'SOLO Mining' mode, unlike traditional Mining Pools that centralize Computing Power and distribute profits according to contribution ratios. In Solo CKPool, each participant is independently Mining. If a Block is mined, the Miner can claim the entire Block Reward without sharing with other Miners.

How low are the chances of winning?

Currently, the Computing Power of the entire BTC network is 677.32 EH/s, but the Computing Power of CKPool is only 332 PH/s, accounting for only 0.049% of the entire BTC network's Computing Power. In addition, this Mining Pool may consist of tens of thousands to millions of Mining Rigs, so the probability of a single Mining Rig successfully mining a Block is extremely low. The Miner who mined BTC Block 867118 on the 24th is extremely lucky.

BTC Network Computing Power

It's unclear what type of Mining Rig the Miner is using and what Computing Power it has, but assuming the Miner is using an Antminer S19 XP, with a Computing Power of 140 TH/s, this means the Computing Power of the entire network is 4,838,000 times that of this Mining Rig. Therefore, this Mining Rig has only about a 0.0000206% chance of successfully mining a Block every 10 minutes (each Block).

If the Miner uses a lottery Mining Rig Bitaxe with only 500 Gh/s of Computing Power, the probability of winning is only 0.0000000738%. According to the Taiwan Lottery official website, the probability of winning the first prize of the lottery is about 1398 millionth, which is 0.00000715%. This means that the probability of the Mining Rig successfully packaging the Block is even lower than winning the lottery.

Recently, the 'try your luck' standalone Mining mode seems to have increased the winning frequency. However, for ordinary people who want to participate in BTC Mining, it is usually more appropriate to choose to join traditional Mining Pools to merge their Computing Power with other Miners' Computing Power in order to steadily obtain partial rewards.
