TON-native wallet announces support for Tron assets
MyTonWallet, a wallet application native to The Open Network blockchain, has added support for Tron.
The TON wallet announced its multi-chain support in a post on X on Sept. 23, noting that users can now access TronDAO assets via its interface. Specifically, MyTonWallet now supports Tron (TRX) and the Tether (USDT) on Tron.
A multi-chain wallet allows users to track their balances, check transaction history, and send or transfer assets on both TON and Tron. The self-custodial wallet’s expansion to Tron comes as both the TON and Tron blockchain networks experience significant development and adoption.
With the ecos’ tap-to-earn models and meme coin trajectories on the rise, the integration could help bring more interoperability across the two chains.
Expanding the TON eco
Toncoin (TON), the native cryptocurrency in the TON eco, is used for network operations and functions as a payment and transaction currency. Decentralized finance, gaming, and non-fungible tokens on TON rely on the cryptocurrency, while holders can trade or swap tokens on decentralized exchanges.
USDT on TON is another asset that the Telegram-linked project is leveraging for growth across its DeFi eco.
On Sept. 6, the TON team announced fresh support for the project’s burgeoning market with a $5 million incentive program.
The program aims to bolster USDT use on TON-based decentralized exchanges, DeDust and STON.fi. Liquid staking protocols such as Bemo and Tonstakers are also set to benefit from the initiative.
