The blockchain technology is now playing a significant role within the gaming sector as many traditional games are integrating digital assets with their gaming systems. This is likely to boost their popularity as they attract many web3 users. With the current trend many players prefer games that give them an additional  income stream over the traditional ones. Today, we discuss the possibility of GTA6 to integrate leading cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, <a href="/price/ethereum-eth" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Ethereum</a> (ETH) and <a href="/price/tether-usdt" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Tether</a> USDT. 

## GTA6 to Integrate Bitcoin: Rumor or Reality? 
There is a strong rumor in the crypto sector that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), a traditional game, may soon integrate leading cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ETH. The rumors that Rockstar Games’ GTA6 will utilize digital assets in the form of cryptocurrencies started circulating a year ago before reignited recently through an X post that went viral. On 3 July, Gordon, whose X username is AltcoinGordon, started the latest round of the rumor through the following post.

As observed from the screenshot, Gordon’s post highlights that bitcoin, Ethereum and Tether USDT will be integrated into GTA 6 which will transform it into a blockchain based game with its own in-game economy. The fact that Gordon, a prominent Crypto Twitter influencer’s post, reached over 500,000 [x.com followers](https://x.com/AltcoinGordon/status/1808460015746896325 "x.com followers"), led the rumor to go viral. Nevertheless, it is important to note that neither Rockstar Games nor GTA 6 team members have confirmed the crypto news. Asked to divulge the source of the news Gordon said, “My uncle works there.”

Only time will tell whether or not Gordon’s revelation is true or false.  Although there is no official GTA 6 release date, it should be launched in 2025. And if the crypto gaming integration materializes it will be another transformative moment for both the gaming sector and the digital asset industry. 

As of now, many web3 gamers may not believe that the cryptocurrency rumors are true considering that in 2022  Rockstar Games banned the use of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies and NFTs on GTA5. During that year there was a surge in the use of NFTs within its modified gaming server. Despite its move to disregard decentralized finance as an essential component of modern games, Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) performed outstandingly. For example, to date it has sold more than 405 million copies making it one of all-time best-selling game series.  

## GTA 6’s DeFi Entry: The Best Crypto Integration
Although the fact that Rockstar Games has not confirmed GTA6 gaming integration with digital assets it has not also refuted the claim, making the situation a 50-50 possibility. With that scenario the crypto sector is already assessing the best virtual currency for the gaming platform. As Gordon stated on X the most probable cryptocurrency the gaming platform may integrate if it adopts the blockchain technology are bitcoin, Ether and USDT. These three crypto assets have their different appeals. However, there is also a possibility that Rockstar may launch its own virtual currency, RSTAR. 

Bitcoin Integration: One of the trending leaks is that Rockstar Games will introduce bitcoin as part of its in-game economy, used for its reward system. The fact that bitcoin is the number one cryptocurrency and had a broader adoption earlier this year when the SEC approved spot ETFs makes it probably the best cryptocurrency for Rockstar DeFi integration. Many gamers would be lured to play the game and earn bitcoin as a reward. 

Ethereum integration: Ethereum is the other great virtual currency for the GTA 6 DeFi integration since it is widely accepted within the crypto sector. First, ETH is the most widely used digital asset in the DeFi sector since it is integrated with many decentralized applications (dApps). Second, it has a big role in the play-to-earn web3 gaming economy. Therefore, it is acceptable among gamers. 

Tether USDT Integration:  Tether USDT’s greatest appeal is that it is a stablecoin. The players would be happy to earn USDT whose price does not fluctuate much. This is different from its competitors, ETH and bitcoin whose prices are volatile. Already, we have seen that the <a href="/price/bitcoin-btc" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Bitcoin price</a> reached $73, 737 in March before plummeting to around $57,000. On the other hand, according to [CoinGecko data, the Ethereum price](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/ethereum "CoinGecko data, the Ethereum price") dropped by 10% within the last 30 days.

Rockstar Games Native Cryptocurrency: The last cited option is for the gaming giant to launch its own virtual currency, probably called RSTAR, as others have hinted on. Whereas this option is in line with current crypto gaming trends, we cannot predict the token’s price performance and how the market will adopt it. 

## Crypto Gaming Market Trends: Will GTA 6 Perform Like other Games
If GTA 6 integrates some leading cryptocurrencies it will likely stand out within the gaming sector. Based on the performance of GTA 5, GTA6 will be different from the market performance of the leading games within the blockchain sector. Leading Web3 games like <a href="/price/decentraland-mana" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Decentraland</a> and <a href="/price/axie-infinity-axs" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">Axie Infinity</a> are far less popular than the GTA series that include GTA5 and GTA6.  What this means is that the digital assets which GTA6 may integrate will become very popular. This will also lead to greater crypto adoption than before. 

## GTA 6’s Entry into the Web3 Gaming sector: Future Possibilities
The integration of cryptocurrencies with GTA 6, as popular as the game is, will likely lure many players to the blockchain and crypto world which may foster their understanding and appreciation of the blockchain technology and decentralized digital assets. Further to this, such crypto gaming integration will likely set a strong precedent for other game developers to follow suit which can lead to the development of more intriguing web3 games than before.

The anticipation that GTA6 will integrate digital assets like bitcoin and USDT has created much excitement for game lovers. Some experts contend that GTA6 may incorporate bitcoin, ETH and Tether USDT into its in-game economy. Already, the crypto sector is assessing the potential impact of GTA6’s integration of leading cryptocurrencies.
