## Introduction 
Notcoin, a GameFi token, had a strong start following its launch as it attracted many Telegram app users. Its allure of a lucrative airdrop also lured users from other games to benefit from its tap-to-earn gaming model. However, despite that flashy start it fizzled along the way as its price remained subdued for over two months now. ## Notcoin (NOT): Its Origin, Rise and Stagnation
Developed by Open Builders, Notcoin [was launched in November 2023](https://www.gate.io/learn/articles/an-introduction-to-notcoin/3094 "was launched in November 2023") as a closed beta tap-to-earn game available exclusively on the Telegram app. Notcoin has a mining phase where the users used over 17 trillion coins within the gaming ecosystem. It is important to realize that the mining phase ended on 1 April 2024. Soon after that stage the team distributed NOT to the players.

Notcoin is a very simple game to play since it does not have many complications. To earn this valuable digital asset (Telegram coin) the users need to tap on a yellow coin that appears on the center of the screens of their mobile phones. Once someone does that he/she receives a reward. To entice the players to put more effort the game has various incentives which include boost mechanics and bonuses. The players can use the Telegram coin to purchase different in-game assets such as coin skins and new backgrounds, which is an important blockchain innovation.

What is also essential to recognize is that NOT is the native cryptocurrency of Notcoin which is used to convert some in-game assets into a tradable token. There are several reasons why the game became very popular and attracted many players. The gamers earn NOT by completing varying tasks that include quests and tasks. However, at the moment the game has shifted from the tap-to- earn model to the explore-to-earn one.

## NOT Value Dips: Hope for Recovery Exists but Faint
We have discussed how the Notcoin gained much traction, however it did not maintain much momentum for long as its price dropped and stagnated. On 5 August NOT plummeted but recovered by 30% as the next graph indicates.

As the picture shows, the NOT price fell dramatically on 5 August. However, it recovered within a 24-hour period. Since 6 August, though, the price of the cryptocurrency was fluctuating between $0.01 and $0.012, showing much stagnation. Nevertheless, hope is not lost for the cryptocurrency’s recovery. The path to NOT recovery seems riddled by challenges as some technical indicators show. For example, by the 9th of August the NOT MACD showed bearishness although its intensity had decreased.

By using candlestick patterns we can understand NOT’s current price trajectory better.

As seen on <a href="/price/the-graph-grt" target="_blank" class="blog_inner_link">the graph</a>, NOT is in a consolidation phase that started from 7 August. Looking at the last two bars there is no definite price direction, meaning that a breakout or a breakdown may follow. 

## NOT’s Road to Recovery: Key Factors to Focus on 
Despite its present depressed market state there are high chances that NOT will recover soon. First, there is a clear indication that the investor sentiment is shifting from negative to positive. Within the last two weeks there was an increasing conviction among the holders as evidenced by a slight rise in Notcoin investment. Also, the mid-term holder increased from 25% in July to 75% at the moment. That shift is a clear sign of a rise in investors’ confidence in Notcoin’s future. 

Another sign that shows a high possibility of NOT’s recovery is a decrease in selling activity among the investors. Currently, only 4% of the investors’ active wallets are in the profit zone, showing a low propensity to sell the cryptocurrency. Despite the promise for a price recovery NOT has some disadvantages. Currently, NOT is just an in-game asset that has no real world value. However, there are plans to launch it on the Telegram blockchain so it has much utility.

Another thing that will help NOT to recover is a large community that gives much support to the development of its ecosystem. Also, Notcoin has the capacity to integrate seamlessly with other apps on Telegram which increases the demand for the token.

## Notcoin’s Adoption: Telegram Platform’s Contribution 
There is no question that Telegram contributed much to the rise and popularity of NOT to become the 68th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. First, Telegram promotes the visibility of various apps that exist on it such as Notcoin. With its architecture the users can use stars to conduct transactions in the apps. On the other hand, developers can use the stars to promote their mini-apps on Telegram. Those are some of the ways Notcoin gained popularity and reached a large audience.

Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, explained how Notcoin and other mini-apps benefit from their integration with the social media platform. [He said](https://t.me/durov/280 "He said"), “Apple and Google take a 30% commission when users buy Stars from them, but Telegram will subsidize ads purchased with Telegram Stars. So if developers reinvest Stars in promoting their app, the overall commission will be nearly 0%.”

It is also important to note that Pavel Durov has given much support to Notcoin. For example, he holds some of the assets in his account waiting for them to appreciate. Durov also gave the apps favourable terms. In a [Telegram message he said](https://t.me/durov/280 "Telegram message he said"), “Unlike old-school apps, Telegram mini apps like Notcoin don’t need to be installed for use. That’s why they grow so quickly. In addition, Telegram’s social nature allows mini apps to spread virally, so they reach tens of millions of users within weeks.”

He added, “With Telegram Stars, mini apps can now accept payments for digital services using the simplest payment method possible – in-app purchases on Android and iOS. Mini app developers can withdraw their Stars via Fragment using TON. They can also use Stars to further promote their apps on Telegram — on preferential terms!” Therefore, it is clear that Telegram has contributed much to the success of NOT.

## Notcoin Faces Competition on Telegram
Notcoin is not the only mini-app that uses cryptocurrency on Telegram. There are many  other gaming applications on the platform. Most of them use the tap-to-earn gaming model. Airdrop Hunter App, Blum, Hamster Kombat MemeFi are other gaming apps that exist on Telegram.

Although these apps work alongside the same principles they are different in some aspects. For example, with Airdrop Hunter App the users farm points and earn bonuses. Blum is a crypto exchange that exists on Telegram which other mini-apps can integrate with. Notcoin is also different from other tokens in that it has no investors and large holders. Its success depends on its community spirit, not on expensive marketing.

## Notcoin’s Potential for Recovery: Investment Strategies
Of course, the recovery of NOT depends on the crypto trading strategies community members use. A mixture of investment strategies such as buy and hold, dollar cost averaging, swing trading, arbitraging and hedging may increase the demand for the cryptocurrency. However, it is important for the investors to carry out informed Notcoin price analysis using both price action and technical analysis.
