To celebrate the Lunar New Year and spread the joy of Tet, Gate Charity extended a helping hand to those experiencing homelessness in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The event took place on January 21st, 2025 between 8:30PM and 10:00PM local time in Ho Chi Minh City at the following location in the heart of the city:
Bình Thạnh District: Street Đinh Bộ Lĩnh - Điện Biên Phủ - Võ Thị Sáu
District 1: Cách Mạng Tháng 8 - Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai - Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh
To celebrate the holiday and provide much needed food and support for the homeless population of the city, we distributed Chung cakes and provided financial support of 100,000 VND per person to those in need. For those who don’t know, Chung cakes are a traditional Vietnamese dish made from glutinous rice, mung beans, pork and other ingredients.
The community deeply appreciated this nourishment, and our team was grateful for the opportunity to provide food and financial support during Tet in Vietnam. This Tet Initiative was centered on togetherness, as the Gate Charity team shared meaningful moments and brought joy to the individuals we met in Binh Thanh District. Our team had delightful conversations and interactions with the homeless people we found as we celebrated Tet together. Tet is often considered the most important celebration of Vietnamese culture and traditions, and celebrates the arrival of spring according to the Vietnamese calendar.
Gate Charity is pleased to have had the opportunity to bring the warmth and togetherness of the Tet holiday to those in need. Our team is thankful for the smiles we were able to bring to members of Ho Chi Minh City’s homeless population. Gate Charity hopes to participate in similar events in the future and continue to provide assistance to those who need it the most.
